Here’s an update on the Star Wars oil painting I’ve been working on. It’s coming along nicely.
After watching the trailer for the new Star Wars film The Rise Of Skywalker, I decided to do a new oil painting. This is the biggest canvas I’ve used for an oil painting measuring at 24 x 32 inches. I’ve started with Rey (Daisy Ridley), work in progress images are shown below.
I painted this in August 2018 but I hadn’t uploaded it to my website yet. Seeing as the actress herself liked this painting on my Instagram account yesterday I thought it was time to share it here too. It’s from the film Mortal Engines and features the character Hester Shaw played by Hera Hilmar.
The film is adapted from the novels written by Philip Reeve.
This is a pencil sketch on A4 paper of Emperor Palpatine. After watching the new trailer for Star Wars Episode IX and hearing the Emperors cackling laugh, it inspired me to pick up a pencil and do this sketch. The quote is from Return of the Jedi to Luke Skywalker just before the Emperor… No spoilers for the 30 odd year old movie 😀
I’ve added some more artwork recently. Go to the HOME page to see it.
Book 2 of Mekkeneyes my Sci-Fi graphic novel is 3/4 complete. I haven’t been posting single page updates as I prefer to post the whole book when it’s complete. Here is an example of the page artwork for issue 2 below. You can read book 1 on the Mekkeneyes website by following this link – MEKKENEYES.COM
I haven’t posted in this blog since last year, I’ve been using Twitter and various art gallery websites to show my artwork. Some I haven’t been able to show until it’s published. However I’ve just added a few new paintings to my home page. I’ve really put a lot of focus on creating artwork this past year on my paintings and my graphic novel although I haven’t shared a lot of things online yet. Here’s a few of the homepage updates below. You can see the larger versions linked from the home page.
Update 2018 – I finished this one last year but didn’t update the blog. Here’s the finished painting. It even got a like from Mark Hamill himself on Twitter 😀
While finishing off the Blade Runner 2049 painting I’ve also started a new Star Wars oil painting this weekend. This is Luke Skywalker and Rey from The Last Jedi.
Update 2018 – This was finished last year and has now been posted on the home page. Here’s the finished painting below.
After seeing the latest trailer for Blade Runner 2049 I decided to do a new oil painting of some of the characters. Here’s a section of the painting that I’m working on. I’ll post the full painting once it’s finished.
