I’m back working on my Blade Runner Rick Deckard painting. Background is getting filled in now. I’m painting in a dark rainy cityscape from the film.
I think this is finished now. This is Miranda on Illium. Miranda is a character from the Mass Effect series of games. The background scene is from a balcony overlooking a city on Illium, a planet that features in Mass Effect 2. Facial reference from images of actress Yvonne Strahovski were used. Yvonne is the actress who played the voice of Miranda and the character is also modelled on her likeness in the games.
I started off with a pencil drawing of the character. Once scanned onto the computer I painted in the rest. When playing Mass Effect 2 there are many WOW moments when you take in the scenery. For me walking around the city on this planet I would spend a lot of time looking over the balconies onto the cityscape below. Bioware did a really good job on the visuals here! The reason I have done this painting is in appreciation of Mass Effect, the artists behind it and the beautiful Yvonne Strahovski. I couldn’t really go wrong making this one look pretty ![]()
I’m creating a larger wallpaper version for people to download to use as their desktop background this weekend ![]()
Continuing on from the Rick Deckard sketch, here is the painting so far based on that sketch. This is an oil painting A4 size. This is now starting to look like a 1982 Harrison Ford from the film Blade Runner.
I had been struggling and nearly ripped it up earlier in the process as it was strangely looking like Mel Gibson but I’m glad I didn’t give up on it as a few more hours of work has started to produce a better likeness.
Here’s a piece I am currently working on. It’s Miranda from Mass Effect 2 (And hopefully 3). Based on the actress Yvonne Strahovski. Finished piece will be posted once complete.
Page 6 artwork for Grand Theft Robot. “Can’t see any robots yet!” I hear you cry, maybe somebody’s stolen them! In the meantime here’s the end of the last scene followed by the start of Circus getting roughed up by bounty hunters Quick & Chase – They’re British and they’re mean!
Here’s a panel from page 4 of Grand Theft Robot. Here Noah taps into an old computer in a discarded base with Mud Doppler tagging along. This is painted digitally.
Grand Theft Robot is written by Chris Reilly.
